The 5 and 10 Times Tables
Ages 7โ9You will learn
Know the 5 and 10 times tables up to 10 ร 5 and 10 ร 10, and spot their patterns.
Before you start
Multiplication as equal groups, and counting in 5s and 10s.
Quick answer
Multiplying by 5 means counting in 5s, and multiplying by 10 means counting in 10s. For example, 3 ร 5 = 15 (5, 10, 15) and 3 ร 10 = 30 (10, 20, 30).
Letโs learn
Multiplying by 5 is the same as counting in 5s. Multiplying by 10 is the same as counting in 10s.
Example
๐๏ธ ๐๏ธ ๐๏ธ
3 hands, with 5 fingers and thumbs on each. 3 ร 5 = 5 + 5 + 5 = 15
